Like the Painter Whose House Needs Paint…
Filed under FooFeb 4my blog needs posts. And, I’ve been scarce on chat, twitter and facebook. What am I doing?
1. Working for myself. Yes. I’ve made the decision to start working for myself as absolutely nobody is hiring. I’ve debated this for several years now, and actually made the jump this January. I might have to take a part-time job in the beginning doing something else, but I am determined to make an income off the web that will allow me to work anywhere I want. For the first time in a long time, I’m doing something that *feels* right. God help me.
2. I’m volunteering for the IRS. In order to keep my sanity, I need to get out of the house, so I became a VITA volunteer. I took a class to learn how to work the IRS software and I assist people with low income do their taxes. I have to say, it is one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever done, and it certainly gives me a new perspective. I have a lot of good things in my life, and this reminds me how much I have.
3. I volunteer walking dogs and petting kitties. I also volunteer at the local Operation Kindness, which is a non-profit no kill animal shelter here in Carrollton. My own dog and cat keeps me grounded and always makes me laugh, so this is a way I can help other dogs and cats find good homes. This is also a great way for me to unwind after hours and hours in front of a computer.
4. Triathlon training. I’ve learned that I am not a happy person if I don’t exercise. Tri training is like pressing CTRL-ALT-DELETE and rebooting my brain. And, I actually got my family to agree to do the Rockwall Triathlon with me in August, so we can all encourage each other to do really well.
That’s about it.

Awesome Heather. Going out on your own is a big step (one I have taken once that was not a smash success but was VERY fulfilling) and I am looking forward to doing it again at some point. Let me know what I can do to help.
